6 July 2016: Uliza is now in the process of piloting an Alpha 0 prototype in Kenya in Kiswahili. We're in Nairobi till 20 July, drop us a line!

Uliza allows anyone with a basic phone to call our toll-free number, ask a question in their own language, and receive a voice answer, for free.

Uliza connects marginalized people in rural places to access the wealth of information on the Internet; and retailers governments, and NGOs to understand the needs of this population and customize their outreach.

Team Uliza


Our founding team has a combined experience of over 10 years of working on the ground in developing countries, where we have individually launched successful startups, executed development projects, and harnessed tech for social impact.

Grant Bridgman, Co-Founder and CEO

From South Africa, Grant has worked in Sierra Leone with J-PAL/IPA where he started Burreh Belts and Innovate Africa.  Grant specializes in development economics and harnessing technology for poverty alleviation.

Abhishek Maity, Co-Founder and CFO

From India, Maity has worked as a management consultant in the US, a high school teacher in India, and startups in Lebanon. Maity specializes in data analytics, corporate finance, and development economics.

Janeth Jepkogei, Co-Founder and CTO

From Kenya, Janeth is a computer science student at Tufts University specializing in natural language processing.
